~ with Jillian Stein of Read Love Blog

I loved your installment of the Rising Storm series, White Lightning. I was struck by how seamless the transition was from one author to another. Was that a difficult task?

I’m super happy I was number 2 and not the last book of the season. Not that following Julie Kenner is easy, but I will say that Julie and Dee had such a clear vision for the series that I think it’s why the transitions seem so seamless.

What did you think when Julie Kenner and Dee Davis approached you with this awesome and different project?

I was so excited. It’s a brilliant idea and I’ve wanted to do something with multi-authors writing an ongoing story line. I think having all those different points of views makes for a dynamic series. Especially with this group of authors. They’re incredible.

What were some of the soap-style shows you watched, or still do?

I’m an addict. I grew up watching Dallas, Dynasty and Knots Landing. I moved on to Melrose Place and now I can’t get enough Scandal and Empire. I’m literally drooling at the prospect of the new TV season starting. So writing TV has always been a dream of mine and this is the next best thing.

How much fun was it coming up with some of the drama these characters have to deal with? (insert evil laugh)

What’s really interesting is I didn’t actually come with the drama. Julie and Dee did that. I had to figure out how these characters would react to a situation I was given by the storyline. It was a really interesting thing to do as an author because obviously I’m used to having to come up with everything. I could really concentrate on the characters and the dialogue and in making the characters my episode focuses on really shine. And hey, I got a couple of the real villains of the series so that was a blast.
